ABSTRACT:
Nanoformulations have brought a significant transformation in pharmaceutical drug delivery, offering improved therapeutic outcomes, precision targeting, and reduced adverse effects. By manipulating drugs at the nanometer scale, these systems enhance properties such as solubility, stability, and bioavailability, especially for compounds with low water solubility. Technologies like liposomes, micelles, dendrimers, nanoemulsions, and polymeric nanoparticles allow sitespecific delivery and extended drug circulation, reducing both toxicity and dosage frequency. These systems are particularly advantageous in managing cancer, infectious conditions, and neurological disorders. This article provides an overview of various nanoformulation types, their design principles, mechanisms, current clinical uses, and limitations. Recent progress in carrier technologies, along with regulatory and safety considerations, is also reviewed. Nanoformulations are poised to significantly impact future therapeutic strategies, especially in the realm of personalized medicine and targeted treatment.
